Miss Black Illinois USA 2017

WE-claim:

Bridging civic responsibility with the power of social influence to develop strengthened and effective change agents.

Miss Black Illinois USA

After years of being convinced to compete in pageants, Alleson Whitley Knox stepped out on faith and applied to the Miss Black USA organization. In September 2016, after a series of interviews, she was selected as Miss Black Illinois USA and was off to compete for the national title of Miss Black USA.

Unsure and fearful of where to begin in her reign, Alleson hesitated to publicize the tremendous honor.  It wasn’t until a workshop on finding your life’s purpose statement and the recent election happenings in November 2016 that she realized the title was much bigger than her, and there was no better time to begin her work than now.

Under her platform in support of the WE Movement,WE-claim: Bridging civic responsibility with the power of social influence to develop strengthened and effective change agents,” Alleson hopes to inspire millennials to shift from a ME to WE mindset and use the power of their social influences to expand the movement. In partnership with WE’s programming and WE Schools, she hopes to assist in creating a world where all young people are empowered to pursue their dreams and reach their full potentials as active local, national and global citizens.

Alleson will compete for the national title of Miss Black USA in Washington, DC August 2017.
